QMJHL Roundup: Dumais, Boucher’s stellar efforts lead Mooseheads to blowout win

HALIFAX – Jordan Dumais recorded three goals and three assists, Evan Boucher added three goals and two assists as the Halifax Mooseheads rolled past the Saint John Sea Dogs 9-4 on Friday.

Brody Fournier, Reece Peitzsche and Stephane Jr Huard notched the others for Halifax (12-5-2-1). Mathis Rousseau made 28 saves.

Brady Burns had two goals. Cam MacDonald and Sam-Luca Thifault replied for Saint John (5-12-0-1). Nikolas Hurtubise kicked out 28-of-37 shots before making way for Ventsislav Shingarov, who made one save.

Entering the third period up 5-4, the Mooseheads blew the game open scoring four unanswered goals. Boucher scored two of his three, while Dumais completed his hat trick with his league-leading 19th goal on the season. Peitzsche netted the final marker.

BAIE-COMEAU, QUE. – Charles Boutin capped Cape Breton’s (8-9-2) comeback with the game-winning goal with just 54 seconds left against Baie-Comeau (9-10-2-1). After going down 4-2 8:08 into the third, Ivan Ivan and Conor Shortall answered to tie the game before Boutin added the winner for the Eagles.

VAL-D’OR, QUE. – Kale McCallum knocked in the game-winning goal with six seconds left in overtime to lift Val-d’Or (10-10-2) to victory over Charlottetown (9-10-2). After going down 2-0 under four minutes into the game, the Islanders came back to tie 16 minutes into the second.

BOISBRIAND, QUE. – Alexis Gendron recorded a goal and an assist, Josh Lawrence dished out three assists and Blainville-Boisbriand (9-11-0-1) downed Shawinigan (8-10-0-2). The Armada entered the second period down 2-0 before scoring five unanswered goals.
