The Medicine Hat Tigers opened the weekend on a winning note. They won 6-3 Friday night in Lethbridge, beating the Hurricanes for the seventh time this season. Defenceman Jonas Woo scored on a power play in the third period, fittingly assisted by his D-partner Bryce Pickford, setting a new franchise record for points by a defenceman in a single season. The goal, giving him 83 points on the season, passing Cliff Lane’s 82-point season in 1975-76 for the new team single-season record. Kade Stengrim scored twice in the win and Kadon McCann also found the back of the net, both hitting the 20-goal mark. The Tigers have seven skaters who have reached the 20-goal plateau this season. Pickford scored the game opener, giving him 44 goals on the season. Andrew Basha scored shorthanded for his 15th, adding a pair of assists for a three-point night. Shaeffer Gordon-Carroll had a pair of assists and Jordan Switzer made 31 saves for his 27th win on the year. Forward Noah Davidson was ejected from the game 6:10 into the second period after being pushed into Lethbridge net minder Koen Cleaver on a breakaway. He was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for goaltender interference on the play. The Tigers host the Hurricanes on Saturday for the final meeting of the regular season between the Highway 3 rivals. 8
