Boxing club competes at provincial tournament

The Medicine Hat Boxing Club fought at the provincial level over the weekend.

The local club sent four boxers to the junior/youth provincials and sub-novice spring tournament in Stony Plain this weekend.

Kade Steiger lost to Heohii Moliakov from Chestermere in the 50kg. Open.

Noah Wiens lost to Austin Spooner from Red Deer in Youth Novice 80 kg., the bout was Wiens first fight.

Jacob Walne lost the provincial championship to Jayden Ste-Croix from Titans in the 60 kg.Ope Jr.C.

Boxing Club coach Kerry Fahlman says Walne will still qualify for Junior Nationals at silver. Mardic Kasarjian lost to Clyde Uy from Edmonton Westchester in the 55 kg. Youth Novice.

Fahlman says it was not a successful weekend as far as wins but the boys gained some experience.
