sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Medicine Hat College’s women’s hockey team will play in the ACAC playoffs for the first time in the program’s history. The Rattlers recorded a pair of wins over the SAIT Trojans, winning 3-2 Friday at home before securing a playoff spot with a 5-3 victory Saturday on the road. In the first game, Gracie Soderstrom had a pair of goals, including a shorthanded marker in the third period for the eventual game winner. Tegan McAuley added a solo tally, Anna Stewart made 35 saves. On Saturday, the Rattlers led 4-1 after 40 minutes with a pair of goals from Sage Nohr and tallies from Sienna Vieira and Hayley Anderson. Zayda Summach scored in the third frame, Chloe Johnson had two assists in the win. Stewart made 29 saves. The Rattlers (9-14) hold the fourth and final playoff spot in the ACAC and have one more weekend of action before playoffs start Feb. 27. They host the Olds College Broncos (4-19) on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. contest and Saturday at 1 p.m., both games at the Moose Rec Centre. The Rattlers women’s team debuted in 2023, winning their final game to finish the inaugural 2023-24 season with a 1-24 record. They added a second win in the 2024-25 season for a 2-23 record. 8
