Waves Swim Club races in Calgary over the weekend

The Medicine Hat Waves Swim Club took to the waters at Calgary’s Pugley’s Plunge over the weekend.

The local swim club sent 14 swimmers to race at Calgary’s YMCA in the three-day meet starting Friday.

Ethan Bennet, racing in the Boys 11 and under, swam to a provincial qualifier time in the 200m breast, a provincial short course festival time.

Bennett raced to sixth in the 50m Breast, seventh in 50m Fly, eighth in 200m Breast, ninth in 100m IM, 10th in 50m Free and 100m Breast, 14th in 50m Back and 16th in 100m Back.

Three Waves swimmers raced to new club records.

Ellis Anstey (Boys, 8): Set records in the 200m Back, 50m Fly and 100m IM. He finished first in 200m Breast, second in 50m Fly and 100m IM, third in 50m Breast, fourth in 100m Back, fifth in 100m Breast, sixth in 50m Back and seventh in 50m Free.

Jordan Hill (Girls, 17): Set new club records in the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m Free as well as the 50m 100m and 200m Back. She finished seventh in 200m Back, 17th in 100m Back, 18th in 100m Free, 200m Free and 400m Free, 22nd in 50m Back, 23rd in 50m Fly and 24th in 50m Free.

William Miller (Boys, 17): Set new club records in the 200m IM and 200m Back. He finished first in 200m Free, second in 200m Back and 200m IM, third in 100m Free, fourth in 400m Free and seventh in 50m Fly.

The other 10 Waves swimmers results were:

Quinn Baht (Female, 11): Finished fifth in 200m Back, seventh in 50m Free and 100m Free, eighth in 50m Fly, 10th in 200m Free and 12th in 100m Back.

Sophie Baht (Female, 14): Finished third in 100m Breast, ninth in 50m Free, 14th in 100m Free, 15th in 200m Free, 18th in 50m Fly and 22nd in 100m Back.

Blayke Bennett (Female 8): Finished 17th in 50m Breast, 19th in 50m Back and 100m Breast, 24th in 100m Back, 26th in 50m Free and 28th in 100m Free.

Izzy Coleman (Female, 12): Finished 33rd in 50m Breast, 34th in 100m Free and 38th in 50m Free and 50m Back.

Lyrah Eggins (Female, 11): Finished 25th in 100m Free, 26th in 50m Free and 100m Breast and 30th in 50m Back.

Elizabeth Humphreys (Female, 15): Finished third in 50m Breast, fifth in 200m Back, seventh in 100m Back, 10th in 50m Fly and 12th in 50m Free.

Jonathan Miller (Male, 15): Finished 11th in 100m IM, 16th in 100m Free, 17th in 200m Free, 19th in 50m Fly, 20th in 50m Free, 21st in 50m Back and 28th in 400m Free.

Zoe Peterson (Female, 9): Finished eighth in 100m Free, 11th in 50m Free, 15th in 50m Back and 100m Breast, 16th in 100m Back and 19th in 50m Breast.

Isabel Unreiner (Female, 15): Finished seventh in 100m IM, 15th in 50m Free, 18th in 50m Fly, 19th in 100m Free and 20th in 200m Free.

Hazel Vossler (Female, 13): Finished 12th in 100m Breast, 14th in 200m Breast, 17th in 50m Free and 19th in 200m Free.
