sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Medicine Hat Tigers continued their winnings ways over the weekend. The Tigers won 5-1 Saturday at Moose Jaw, beating the Warriors in back-to-back games to extend their league-leading win streak to 15. Saturday’s win, coming off a 6-3 victory Friday at Co-op Place over Moose Jaw, sweeps the season series with the Warriors. The Tigers’ 15-game win streak is two off the franchise’s record of 17 straight wins set in the 2006-07 championship season. Defenceman Tyson Moss (6,7) had a pair of goals in the win for his second multi-goal effort of the season. Cam Parr (3) scored for the second-straight game, Liam Ruck (20) and Noah Davidson (12) each scored. Andrew Basha had an assist in his second game in the WHL this season after being reassigned from the AHL by the Calgary Flames on Friday. Jordan Switzer stopped 19 shots for his league-leading 17th win of the season. Saturday’s win was victory No. 550 for head coach Willie Desjardins who sits eighth all-time in career wins. He passed Ernie ‘Punch’ McLean (548) with Friday’s win over Moose Jaw. Mike Williamson sits seventh all time with 572 wins. The Tigers (27-6-3-2) sit first in the Eastern conference with 59 points in 38 games, a point ahead of the East division-leading Prince Albert Raiders (27-5-4) who have two games in hand. They’re three points up on the Edmonton Oil Kings (26-7-3-1) in the Central division, with Edmonton having a game in hand, hosting Swift Current on Wednesday. The Tigers are off until Friday, following the WHL trade deadline on Thursday at 6 p.m. MST. They host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday, getting their first look at the Thunderbirds after they acquired forwards Matthew Gard from the Red Deer Rebels and Cameron Schmidt from the Vancouver Giants. On Saturday they’ll host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. 11
