Medicine Hat News The Medicine Hat Tigers added another tally to the win streak on Saturday. The Tigers won 5-1 on the road in Moose Jaw to sweep the regular season series with the Warriors, extending their league-leading win streak to 15 games. They entered the contest off a 6-3 win Friday at Co-op Place over the Warriors, beating Moose Jaw in regulation twice after playing into overtime in the first two meetings with the East division foe. Defenceman Tyson Moss had a pair of goals in the win for his second multi-goal effort of the season. Liam Ruck opened the scoring a little over six minutes into the game with a wraparound attempt that bounced off a defender’s skate and into the net. Shaeffer Gordon-Carroll and Markus Ruck had the assists on his 20th of the year. The first period came to a close with a 1-1 tie on a late Warriors power play goal. Landen McFadden fed Colt Carter, standing alone at the side of the net, with a pass and he deked out Jordan Switzer to score with 12 seconds left in the frame. Carter’s fifth goal of the season was the lone blemish on the night for Switzer who finished with 19 saves for his league-leading 17th win of the year. The Tigers game-winning goal came 2:25 into the second period. Cam Parr took a hit in the neutral zone to make a play, poking a puck loose for Kadon McCann who passed up to Carter Cunningham. The 19-year-old forward carried the puck into the Moose Jaw end on a two-on-one with Parr, dishing off to the winger who scored his third of the season and second of the weekend. A little over four minutes later, Moss threw a shot on net from the point that found twine for his first of the night. Kade Stengrim had the lone assist as the Tigers led 3-1 through 40 minutes. They added to their lead 5:41 into the third. Captain Bryce Pickford deked his way from the point before muscling out defenders to maintain possession, passing off to Noah Davidson in the high slot. The Irvine, Calif. product worked his way to the net before unleashing a writer from the hashmarks that beat Moose Jaw starter Kyle Jones for his 12th goal of the season and his second marker of the two-game set. Parr had the second assist, Pickford’s helper extends his team-leading point streak to 13 games. The Tigers rounded out the scoring a little over three minutes later with Moss’s second of the night. The 18-year-old blue liner took a pass at the point from Davidson and opted to keep the puck, scoring his seventh of the season for the 5-1 final score. Forward Andrew Basha had the second assist, giving him a pair of points in his first two games back in the WHL since being reassigned from the AHL by the Calgary Flames. He scored in his season debut Friday. Medicine Hat outshot the Warriors 36-20 in the win and won the face-off battle 34-22. The Tigers were 1-3 on the power play, holding Moose Jaw to one goal on four man advantages. Across the ice from Switzer, Jones finished with 31 saves. The Tigers (27-6-3-2) carry the 15-game win streak back to Co-op Place when they host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Jan. 9. 15
