The Medicine Hat Boxing Club had a busy weekend.
The local club had six fighters in action in Regina and Calgary.
Last weekend in Regina, Kade Steiger lost a close decision to Quian Kelsey Saskatoon in the 48kg. Jr. class. Quincy McComeau defeated an unbeaten Cruze Watier from Alliance Saskatoon in the 65kg Elite, a very entertaining, hard-hitting match coach Kerry Fahlman says.
Jacob Walne defeated Dryden Platt from Sunshine Boxing in 60 kg. open Jr. division, a decisive win according to Fahlman.
Nate Vossler boxed a larger Bronsen Nabess from Power Boxing from Winnipeg in the 60kg open Elite. Fahlman says Nabess came in 18lbs heavy but they agreed to take the fight. Fahlman says Vossler still controlled the fight only to lose an unpopular decision. He thought Vossler won each round.
Mardik Kasarjian lost to a more experienced Jesse Caskanette from Sunshine Boxing in the 55 kg. Jr. novice, another very close match Fahlman says.
Colby Carruthers was the lone boxer not in Regina, taking his match to Calgary. There, he lost what Fahlman says was a back and forth close match to El-Amine Foundjimba from Cougar Edmonton in the 60 kg. Novice Elite.
