Mike and Thomas Fentabil of the Medicine Hat Tennis Club represented the city in Calgary at the end of November.
The Fentabil brothers competed at the ATC 3 STAR U14/U18 Tournament held Nov. 28-30 at Calgary’s Alberta Tennis Centre.
Thomas won the U14 tournament, beating the No. 2 seed Wintson Wong in the semifinals on a third-set tie breaker (6-7, 6-2, 20-18). Wong took first at the Medicine Hat Junior Tournament in August.
The match was three hours and 15 minutes long as the pair traded match point saves in the tiebreaker.
Thomas then won the championship, defeating Smith Lewsaw (6-3, 6-2).
Mike lost both of his matches, playing at the U18 level for the first time. He lost his first match &-5, 3-6, 7-10 and 4-8 in consolation).
