The Medicine Hat Tigers capped off a successful November with a pair of wins.

The Tigers won both games of their two-game Saskatchewan road trip, taking a nick out of the Saskatoon Blades with a 9-3 win Friday before downing the East division-leading Prince Albert Raiders 3-2 on Saturday.

The win in Prince Albert was the fourth straight for the Tigers, who have picked up points in eight straight games, finishing November with a 6-22-2 record and collecting 16 of a possible 24 points.

Coming off the blowout win Friday, the Tigers rattled two first-period goals from Riley Steen and Jonas Woo for an early 2-0 lead.

Woo’s goal, his 14th, gives him the team and WHL defenceman lead in goal scoring. Markus Ruck had a pair of assists in the win to bolster his team scoring lead to six goals and 30 points in 27 games.

Prince Albert tied the game up with a pair in the second, but starter Jordan Switzer’s 20 saves were enough for his ninth win of the season.

Saturday’s contest seemed destined for overtime before the Tigers got themselves a fortunate bounce.

A Raiders’ defenceman tried to clear a puck that ricocheted off Kadon McCann and through the Prince Albert net minder with 1:37 left in the game. McCann’s ninth was the game winner. The win was just the second regulation loss the Raiders have suffered.

The Tigers remain second in the Central division with a 16-6-3-2 record, sitting five points back of the Edmonton Oil Kings (20-6-1-1).

They’ll get a second look at the Raiders this week, hosting Prince Albert (17-2-4) on Wednesday. The Tigers head to Moose Jaw on Friday to face the Warriors (12-12-1-1) before hosting the Wenatchee Wild (8-13-1-1) on Saturday for the Medicine Hat News Teddy Bear Toss game.

Fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals or winter gear to the game, ensuring all items are bagged to keep moisture out and for easier pickup on the ice.

All donations will be split between the Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund, Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation, the Salvation Army and the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society.
