Minor Hockey Roundup: U18AA Hounds go undefeated across pair of weekend games

The Medicine Hat U18AA Hounds stayed out of the loss column this weekend in a pair of games with the East Kootenay Avalanche.

The Hounds tied the Avalanche 7-7 on Friday before blanking East Kootenay 5-0 on Saturday.

In the draw Friday, Zander Weatherhead scored twice, Colten Pluta and Jaxon Bench each had a goal and an assist, and all three of Jaxon Bohrn, Brody Dick and Griffin Aadland had a goal. Jon Jackle had two assists, Treyton Wilson made 33 saves.

On Saturday, Hudson Corbett stopped all 28 shots he faced in the shutout win. Zander Kitching and Weatherhead each scored twice, and Nathan Lepine found the back of the net as well.

The U18AA Hounds (5-6-0-0-1) have two home games this weekend, hosting the Golden Suns on Friday (7 p.m.) and the Lethbridge Hounds on Saturday (7:15 p.m.), both games at the Hockey Hounds Arena.

U17

The Medicine Hat U17AAA South East Tigers lost their only game over the weekend, falling 9-6 to the Calgary Northstars.

Illya Khazov had a goal and two assists, with Tryp McFadzen, Hayden MacNeil, Tyson Chambers, Dane Friedt and Rykert Scherger all finding the back of the net. Griffin Stenger and Jake Druar each made an appearance in net, combining for 29 saves.

The U17AAA Tigers (3-6-0-0-1) have one game this weekend, hosting the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Sunday (1:30 p.m.) at the Hounds arena.

U16

Medicine Hat’s U16AA Hounds lost 3-2 on Sunday to the Okotoks Oilers. Evander Leupold had a goal and an assist, Shane Mathe had a solo marker. Bryden Tschritter made 24 saves.

The Hounds (4-6-0-0-1) are on the road for a pair of games this weekend.

U15

The U15AAA SE Tigers dropped a pair of home games, falling 6-1 Saturday to the LJAC Oil Kings and 5-0 Sunday to the Calgary Northstars.

Raylan Johnson scored the Tigers’ lone goal Saturday, Hunter Munro made 51 saves.

In Sunday’s shutout loss, Hunter Knoll made 51 saves.

The U15AAA Tigers (0-13) host the PAC Saints on Saturday (2 p.m.) at the Hockey Hounds arena before playing on the road Sunday.

The Medicine Hat U15AA Hounds split their weekend, winning 7-1 Friday over the Wheatland Warriors before falling 5-3 Sunday to the Foothills Bisons.

Easton Brown had a hat trick in the win Friday to lead the offence. Kaspar Copeland had a goal and two assists, Emerson Kurtz had a goal and an assist, and both Nash Puhl and Kane Tuchscherer scored solo markers. Jacob Cartwright, Levi McNaughton and Nixon Staples had two assists each, Colton Neigum made 40 saves.

In Sunday’s loss, Brody Eresman, Tuchscherer and Hunter Kustra each scored and Neigum made 50 saves.

The U15AA Hounds (2-12-0-0-1) have two home games this weekend at the Hockey Hounds arena, hosting the Wheatland Warriors on Saturday (4:45 p.m.) and the Red Deer Chiefs on Sunday (11 a.m.).

U13

The Medicine Hat U13AA Hounds went undefeated over the weekend, with a 1-1 draw with the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday before beating the Foothills Bisons 9-3 Sunday.

Austin Schneider scored the Hounds’ lone goal Saturday, Treyson Donnelly made 25 saves.

In the bloated win Sunday, Cohen McLaren had a hat trick, Carter Martin scored twice, Stetsen Kreiser and Hudson Danroth each had a goal and an assist, and both Owen Maser and Decker Hood scored. Max Chisholm had four assists, Asher Nardari made 34 saves.

The U13AA Hounds (2-7-0-0-4) are on the road for a pair of games this weekend.
