newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat Cubs had themselves quite a weekend. The Cubs beat the Okotoks Bisons on the road Saturday before beating the co-North division leader Red Deer Vipers on Sunday at the Kinplex. The pair of weekend wins give the Cubs a five-game win streak through the middle of November. On Saturday they beat Okotoks 4-2, with four different goal scorers finding the back of the net. Slade McFadzen, Jacob Hazzard, Mason Osinski and Cole Fisher all scored, with Fisher notching the game winner. Nolen Sutherland and Connor Chapman each had two assists, Marlo DeRosa made 31 saves between the pipes. At home on Sunday the Cubs beat Red Deer 7-4, led by a three-goal third period. Captain Kyle Woolridge had two goals and two assists to lead the offence. Osinski had a goal and an assist, and all four of Fisher, Sutherland, Chapman and Josiah Jackson scored. For Jackson, his first HJHL goal came in his fourth game with the club. Austin Derzaph had a trio of assists, Kayne Wright made 23 saves. The Cubs (12-6-1) come out of the weekend in second place in the South division, sitting one point back of the Coaldale Copperheads with a game in hand. They have two home games this week, hosting the Strathmore Wheatland Kings on Friday (7:30 p.m.) and the Sylvan Lake Wranglers on Sunday (3 p.m.). 9
