SAHA Roundup: SAHA U15 prep records three wins at Rocky Mountain Classic

The South Alberta Hockey Academy’s U15 men’s team took part in the Rocky Mountain Classic in Calgary last weekend.

SAHA opened the weekend with a 5-1 loss Thursday to the Dallas Stars Elite. Nash Davis had SAHA’s lone goal, Cole Anderson made 25 saves.

They rebounded with a 2-1 shootout win Friday morning over the Humboldt Broncos. Mason Bryksa scored for SAHA in regulation and both Carter Jarvis and Davis scored in the shootout. Patrick Curtis had 16 saves in the game, stopping all three shootout attempts.

SAHA Beat the Calgary Bisons 3-1 Friday evening. Nelson Sonna Soufo, Weston Haslbeck and Kyan Vansandt each scored, Mark Ma had two assists and Anderson made 19 saves.

They opened play Saturday with an 8-1 win over the Calgary Royals. Vansandt had three goals, both Haslbek and Rowan Oddie had a goal and two assists. Sonna Soufo and Carson Caouette each had a goal and an assist and Cooper Danroth had a solo marker. Curtis made 18 saves in the win.

SAHA lost the final game of the weekend, falling 2-0 to the SPKAC United Cycle Flyers. Anderson made 20 saves for SAHA.

The U15 men’s team will head back on the road this weekend for a pair of CSSHL games.

U17

SAHA’s U17 men’s team had three games on the road. They opened the weekend with a 3-2 win Friday over the Shawnigan Lake School.

Nixon Bettenson had a goal and an assist and both Liam Green and Cooper Craven each scored, Chase Neilson made 26 saves.

They lost 3-1 Saturday to the Yale Hockey Academy. Lucas Fisher had the lone SAHA goal, Paxton Smigelski made 20 saves.

SAHA dropped their last game of the weekend, falling 2-1 Sunday to RINK HA Kelowna.

Dalin Nixon scored for SAHA, Nielson made 54 saves.

SAHA’s U17 men’s team (4-3) has three road games this weekend.
