The Medicine Hat Huff’N Puff’s 60’s slo pitch team returned golden from the 2025 Huntsmen Senior World Games.
They travelled to St. George, Utah for the 60’s tournament held Oct. 6-10 and won five of six games en route to the gold.
They opened round robin play with an 18-5 win over Team Savage from Salt Lake City, Utah. The Huff’N Puffs followed the win up with am 18-17 victory over Hanapa’s Team from Hawaii.
They dropped the final round robin game, losing 23-17 to fellow Canadian squad Voodoo (Oshawa, Ont.). In the playoffs, the local team were placed in the ‘A’ division, beating U.S. team Brian’s Brothers 27-10.
Their second playoff matchup game against a team from Wenatchee, Wash. and they pulled out a 19-6 win. That victory set them up for a rematch against Voodoo and the Huff’N Puff made good on the round robin loss with a 20-18 win.
The victory put them in the drivers seat as Voodoo worked their way through the ‘B’ division to set up the ‘A’ finals against Medicine Hat.
The Senior World Games is double knockout, not that Medicine Hat gave Voodoo a chance. They won 21-10 for the ‘A’ division crown.
Coaches Kevin Lane and Kerry Buss say the team played good defence and their offence was stellar, all contributing to the success the team had. All members of the team played in the Medicine Hat Seniors Slo-pitch League.
