The Medicine Hat Open B Smash captured a championship at the CORA Classic Open Tournament over the weekend.

The Medicine Hat Open B Smash played six games in under 48 hours this weekend, winning them all.
The Smash were one of 16 Open B teams playing at the CORA Classic Open Tournament this weekend in Calgary. They won their pool by defeating Calgary Volt 7-2, Calgary Absolute 7-3 and Calgary Summit 3-2. In the quarter-final, the Smash prevailed over Calgary Blaze 7-4 to move into the semis. There, they defeated the Calgary Blitz 5-4 to advance to the final game where they beat the Calgary Avalanche 8-2 to cap the winning weekend.
The full-ice effort from the Smash propelled them through the weekend, Offensively, Kayty Leidal had seven goals, Lindsay Hart had six, Hannah Thompson and Allison Mason each scored five times, Mahala St Jacques and Heather Kempthorne had three goals each, Sophie Kerr, Allie Stanke and Grace Carrier each scored twice and singles came from Abby Haney, Ashlyn Seale and Pacie Harper. Dee Karamanos ahed a goal, plus 11 assists. In net Tyler Leidal had 6 wins and an assist.
Next for Smash is Exhibition games in Bassano on Nov. 9, then the Lethbridge tournament on Nov. 14-16.
The Open C Force also played at the CORA Classic Open Tournament this weekend.
The Force started the weekend off Friday afternoon with a 6-5 win over the Calgary Thundersticks. Kennedy Wilson scored twice and singles from Ami Dynes, Rayelle Smith, Sara Golby and Amanda Beaudion.
Saturday morning Force played Calgary Craze and lost 7-3. Goals came from Ami Dynes, Raynah Gibney and Kennedy Wilson. That afternoon Force played Calgary Fire. Needing a win to play again that night and coming away with a 9-1 victory. Rayelle Smith led the way with three goals, Kailey Piercy had two goals and singles came from Kennedy Wilson, Sara Golby, Alexis Unreiner and Raynah Gibney.
Later that night the Force played in the crossover game against Rockyford Rush, falling 7-2. Goals came from Raynah Gibney and Kai-Li Evans. Jordyn Clark was in net for all four games.
