The Medicine Hat Tigers swung a pair of trades on Monday.
The Tigers acquired 19-year-old forward Cam Parr from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a 2027 eighth-round pick. A few hours later the team announced a trade with the Portland Winterhawks, sending goaltender Cruz Chase to the U.S. division for a 2026 eighth-round pick.
Parr had four goals and 12 points in 59 games last season with Spokane. In their run to the WHL finals, the La Salle, MB. product had two goals and five points in 20 games. He was held scoreless in the WHL Championship Series against the Tigers.
He was drafted 97th overall by the Chiefs in 2021 and has nine goals and 31 points in 166 career WHL games. With the the trade, the Tigers have 16 forwards on the roster.
Chase was acquired by the Tigers via trade on Jan. 8 from the Regina Pats for a 2028 eighth-round pick. The 17-year-old net minder appeared in one preseason game for the Tigers this month making 38 saves on Sept. 13 in a 5-2 win over the Kelowna Rockets at the WHL’s Yukon Showcase in Whitehorse.
The trade leaves the Tigers with two 2007-born goaltenders, Jordan Switzer and Carter Casey.
