sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews As the 2025-26 WHL season gets underway this weekend, milestone watch can begin for some Medicine Hat Tigers. Overage forward Misha Volotovskii enters the year 36 games away from 250 in his WHL career and 53 points from 100 career. Forward Ethan Neutens, also in his overage season, is 18 games from 200 in his WHL career. Fittingly, both Markus and Liam Ruck enter the year 36 games shy of 100. Shaeffer Gordon-Carroll is 45 away from the 100-mark. On the blue line, 20-year-old Josh Van Mulligen is one game away from 200 and 39 points from 100. Both Finnish blue liners are projected to reach the 100-game mark. Veeti Väisänen is 42 games shy, Niilopekka Muhonen is just 40 away. Jonas Woo is 47 games from 250 and 21 assists from 100. A monster 99-point season would give him 200 career. Bryce Pickford is 31 games shy of the 200-game mark and 22 goals away from 50 in his career. He’s 18 points away from 100. The 19-year-old scored 20 goals last season, his first in Medicine Hat, putting him 32nd all-time in Tigers’ defencemen goal scoring. Another 20-goal season would have him tied with Jay Bouwmeester at 40 for eighth-most in team history. Kris Russell leads the franchise with 76 goals from a defenceman. Head coach Willie Desjardins enters his 15th season with 523 wins, good for 11th all-time. The Tigers’ winningest coach is four wins away from passing Brent Sutter (526) to have the 10th most wins. Kelowna Rockets associate head coach Don Hay holds the record with 752 wins. 11
