The Medicine Hat College Rattlers’ cross-country team picked up a trio of medals over the weekend.

A contingent of six Rattlers runners raced at the ACAC #1 Concordia Open on Saturday.

Maddie Scrimger, the Rattlers’ female athlete of the year in 2024-25, led the Rattlers with a second-place finish in the women’s 6km event. She finished 15 seconds behind the winner Ashlee Walker from Concordia.

Pheonix Asprey (fourth), Ellie Barlow (22nd) and Aki Iwata (25th) were the other Rattlers finishers in the women’s race. As a collective, the MHC women’s team placed third in the standings behind the 2024 ACAC champion Red Deer Polytechnic and the NAIT Polytechnic.

On the men’s side, rookie runner Logan Pancoast made a memorable ACAC debut, capturing the bronze medal in the men’s 8km race in a time of 30:03. His finish represents the best MHC result in the male division since the college restarted the cross-country program in 2020.

Spencer Wilson also ran for the Rattlers, finishing 23rd.

Next up for the Rattlers cross-country team is the ACAC #2 event in Lethbridge on Sept. 20.
