Canada, U.S facing off in Hlinka Gretzky Cup semis today in meeting of 4 Tigers

Canada and the United States meet today for a spot in the gold medal game of the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

There are four Medicine Hat Tigers’ forwards vying for a spot in the gold finals in the game, with Markus and Liam Ruck representing Canada and Shaeffer Gordon-Carroll and Noah Davidson donning the red, white and blue.

Canada is looking to win a fourth straight gold at the U18 tournament held as a first look at the upcoming NHL Draft class. The Canadians finished the preliminary round 3-0, the U.S. suffered a loss to undefeated Sweden for a 2-1 record.

The U.S., Canada game gets underway at 11 a.m. MST. Finland and Sweden are facing off in the other semifinal at the same time. The gold medal game is Saturday at 9 a.m. MST, the same time as the bronze final.
