The Okotoks Dawgs were the first team to advance to the Division finals Thursday.

The Dawgs beat the Brooks Bombers 9-2, completing a two-game sweep of the No. 4 seed to advance to the West Division finals.

They’ll await the winner of the Sylvan Lake Gulls and Lethbridge Bulls with the Dawgs two wins away from a fourth straight trip to the WCBL finals.

Sylvan Lake blanked the Bulls 8-0 on Thursday with starter Joshua Tucker working seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts. With the effort he becomes the first WCBL pitcher to record 300 career strikeouts.

The Gulls hosted the Bulls on Friday, one win away from the West finals in a game that was not complete by press time. If needed, a decisive Game 3 would be back in Sylvan Lake on Saturday.

In the East, the Regina Red Sox have a few days of rest while they wait for their next opponent.

The Red Sox downed the Medicine Hat Mavericks in a two-game sweep, winning 13-7 on Thursday. They’ll face the winner between the WCBL-leading Saskatoon Berries and Moose Jaw Miller Express.

After Moose Jaw took Game 1 Wednesday, the Berries responded with a 15-6 win Thursday to force a Game 3.

Outfielder Carter Beck had a home run part of a three hit, four-RBI day. Cory Wouters also had three hits and four RBIs.

Due to rain Friday, the Berries will host Moose Jaw on Saturday for Game 3.

The Division finals are expected to start Sunday.
