The Mavs lost their last four games of the regular season, capped off with a 7-5 loss Monday at Saskatoon to the WCBL-leading Berries. Adam Vulcano pitched two innings and Tyler Vanneste worked a frame of his own to maintain the pitching staff for the playoffs. Blake Dale had three hits with an RBI. The Mavs lost in the 10th inning Sunday at Saskatoon, leading 10-7 heading into the bottom of the extra frame before the Berries rattled off seven runs to win 14-7. Carter Roth had five hits in the loss, Jaden Babiuk had four hits and two RBIs. Saskatoon’s win Sunday was No. 45 on the season for the Berries, setting a new WCBL record for wins in a single season. The Mavs also lost a pair of games at Weyburn, dropping the final two matchups against the Beavers. On Saturday, the Mavs and Beavers were tied 7-7 heading into the eighth before Weyburn scored seven runs for the 14-7 win. Vanneste had three hits and two RBIs. Weyburn scored four runs in the fifth inning Friday to beat the Mavs 7-6. Jamel Chabot had two hits and two RBIs in the loss. The Mavs finish the regular season with a 34-21 record, tied for their third-best record since 2010. They will meet the Regina Red Sox in the playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons. They beat Regina in three games in 2022 and swept the Red Sox in two games in 2023. Game 1 of the semifinals series at Athletic Park is Wednesday with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Game 2 goes Thursday at Regina, also a 7:05 p.m. start.
