American Legion roundup: Knights win three games over weekend

The Medicine Hat Knights of Columbus Knights picked up a pair of weekend wins.

The Knights opened played Saturday with a 9-1 win Saturday over the Tri-County Cardinals. Ethan Chenard had three RBIs with a pair of hits, Liam Cunningham had two RBIs with a hit and Ethan Grad had two hits with an RBI.

James Cole threw all seven innings, allowing just one run with three strikeouts.

They lost the second game, a rematch against Tri-County, falling 4-2. Chenard had two hits and an RBI, Grad had a hit and an RBI and Hudson Ma had two hits. Ethan Bowey threw seven innings, recording a strikeout.

They won both games Sunday agains the Havre Northstars, winning the first game 6-1. Grad had a hit and an RBI, all three of Chenard, Cunningham and Cole had a hit and scored once in the win. Jayden Mook started the game, working 5.2 innings with six strikeouts. Cunningham worked the final 1.2 frames with two strikeouts.

They beat Havre in a 9-8 slugfest later in the day, walking off the Northstars with a single from Cunningham to cap off a six-run seventh inning.

The Knights trailed 8-3 heading to the seventh inning, scoring the final three runs with two outs to secure the win. Ryker Miller finished with two hits and an RBI, Kane Bishop had two RBIs and a hit and both Cunningham and Isaac Stenhouse had a hit and an RBI.

Cunningham started the game, working two innings with three strikeouts. Dylan Nelson threw four innings with three strikeouts and Bishop recorded the win, pitching the final inning with two strikeouts.

Monarchs

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs had four road games against the Helena Senators.

They lost the first game 6-5 on Saturday. Asha Frey had three hits and an RBI, Kaleb BOzek had a hit and two RBIs. Ryler Straarup started the game working four innings with one strikeout. Ayden Andersen threw 1.2 innings with a strikeout and Dryden Pidlisny worked the last out.

They lost 11-1 to Helena later in the day. Pidlisny had three hits and both Matt Getz and Dylan Admundson had a hit. Bozek started the game, working five innings with four strikeouts. Andersen recorded an out and Frey finished the game on the mound.

They beat the Senators 8-7 to open play Sunday.

Getz and Parker Hunt each had two RBIs and a hit, Frey and Bozek had a hit and an RBI. Cade Moch started the game, working 4.2 innings with two strikeouts. Frey recorded two outs and Pidlisny threw 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.

The Monarchs finished the weekend with a 13-7 loss to Helena.

Getz had two hits and an RBI, Andersen had two RBIs and a hit and Ty Meyer had a hit and an RBI. Nixon Kunkel pitched 3.2 innings to start the game. Hunt worked an inning with a strikeout and Wade Davies pitched 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.

Majestics

The Saamis Rotary Majestics had three games over the weekend, picking up two wins.

They opened the weekend with an 11-7 win Saturday over the SWEMBA Sox Black. Gavin Russell had two hits and two RBIs, Connor Maier had three hits and two RBIs and all four of Jace Berner, Gavin Nardari, Mason Opp and Kane Velichko had a hit and an RBI.

Nardari threw six innings with six strikeouts. Kane Brost recorded an out and Velichko finished the game with a strikeout.

They lost 5-4 to the Lloydminster Prairie Pirates on Sunday. Beckett Lybbert had three RBIs with a hit and Maier had a hit and an RBI. Dylan Harnett started the game with nine strikeouts in six innings. Velichko worked the final frame with a strikeout.

They beat the YQL Sluggers 18-7 to finish the weekend. Velichko and Harnett each had a home run in the win. Velichko had a two-run home run in the third, finishing with four hits and three RBIs. Harnett blasted a grand slam in the seventh inning, finishing with five RBIs and two hits. Berner had three RBIs and two hits, Dylan Eisenbarth had two RBIs and a hit.

Lybbert started the game, working four innings with seven strikeouts. Jake Czember worked two innings with two strikeouts and Berner threw a frame.
