Western Hockey League releases preseason schedule, Tigers at home for one game

The Western Hockey League released its 58-game preseason schedule on Monday.

The preseason slate for the 2025-26 season is highlighted by the Yukon Showcase between the Medicine Hat Tigers and Kelowna Rockets that will see the defending WHL champions take on the Rockets for a two-game set Takhini Arena in Whitehorse on Sept. 12 and 13.

Before that two-game road trip against the 2026 Memorial Cup hosts, the Tigers will face the Lethbridge Hurricanes for a pair of games. The Tigers will head down Highway 3 on Tuesday, Sept. 2 to face the Hurricanes to kick off both clubs’ preseasons. They’ll host Lethbridge on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Co-op Place, their lone home preseason game.

The Tigers will unveil their Ed Chynoweth Cup banner during their season and home opener on Saturday, Sept. 20, hosting the Regina Pats at Co-op Place. The game opens their 56th season in the WHL, also marking the first time the Tigers and Pats have met in the season opener since Oct. 5, 1974.

The full schedule for the 2025-26 WHL season is to be released today.
