Mavericks continue to put up big numbers as they improve to 5-0

The Medicine Hat Mavericks continued their hot streak to kick off the 2025 WCBL season.

The Mavs won all three games over the weekend, carrying a five-game streak into tonight’s contest at Regina against the Red Sox.

Medicine Hat won 10-4 on the road Friday over the Swift Current 57s.

Outfielder Micah Dvorak slugged a home run, part of a four-RBI, two-hit and run-scored effort. Catcher Nate King had two hits with two RBIs and two runs scored. Infielder Tyler Vanneste had a home run, finishing with two RBIs.

Gary Dornan started the game, working three innings with four strikeouts. Zack Hlinsky recorded the win with nine strikeouts in six innings of work.

They then beat the Lethbridge Bulls 17-7 on Saturday at Athletic Park.

Infielder Carter Roth had three hits with three RBIs and three runs scored. Infielder Johnny Vulcano knocked a home run, finishing with three hits and three runs scored. Infielder Evan Morrison had three hits with two RBIs and two runs scored. Vanneste had three RBIs with two hits and two runs scored.

Xander Roberts started the game, recording three strikeouts in four innings. Garrick Levesque recorded the win with two strikeouts in two innings of work. Luis Diaz worked the last two frames, recording two strikeouts.

The Mavs finished the weekend with a 13-4 home win over Swift Current. They scored nine runs in the seventh and eighth innings to record the win.

Johnny Vulcano had three RBIs with two hits and two runs scored. Vanneste had two RBIs with two hits and a run scored, and Adam Vulcano had two hits with two runs scored.

Danny Retzlaff started the game, working four innings with four strikeouts. Jesse Alfaro recorded three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work. Luke Barrientos also struck out two batters in two innings. Ryan Dexter recorded the final out, notching a strikeout.

The Mavs (5-0) kick off a six-game stretch tonight, the first three on the road, taking on the Red Sox. They’re back in Regina on Wednesday before heading to Moose Jaw to face the Miller Express on Thursday.
