Hawks wrestlers bring home hardware from Alberta Open

The Medicine Hat High Hawks wrestling team sent six wrestlers to the Alberta Open over the weekend, returning victorious.

The local wrestling club wrestled at the University of Calgary, led by the Streifel family’s four children.

Hanna and Isaac Streifel each earning multiple medals in the freestyle category and the Greco Roman category.

Janvier Streifel had an excellent weekend, defeating multiple older wrestlers to capture the gold in his 57 kg weight class.

Isaac Streifel won the Graeco-Roman 76 kg weight class with an exciting match.

The younger Streifels who are new to wrestling fought and brought home a metal for each of themselves with competitive matches.

Emily Walsh also earned herself a silver metal.
