A trio of Medicine Hat Tigers have been recognized among the top of the Eastern conference this season.

Forward Gavin McKenna and defenceman Tanner Molendyk were named to the WHL’s Eastern conference first all-star team.

McKenna had a CHL-leading 40-game point streak in the regular season, tallying 41 goals and 129 points in 56 games of his sophomore season in the WHL.

Molendyk split the season with the Saskatoon Blades and then Medicine Hat after being acquired by the Tigers in January. In 49 games with the two clubs, he had nine goals and 47 points.

Both were named to the first all-star team with their respective divisions last year.

Forward Oasiz Wiesblatt was named to the Eastern conference’s second all-star team. It’s the third year in a row Wiesblatt has been recognized on a WHL all-star team.

The 20-year-old reached the 100-point plateau for the first time in his WHL career, with 36 goals and 103 points in 66 games.

The Western Hockey League previously handed out division-based awards, switching to conference-based teams this season.
