Cubs on the brink, return home for must-win Game 4 tonight

The Medicine Hat Cubs’ season is on the line tonight at the Kinplex.

The Cubs dropped Game 3 of their third-round series with the Okotoks Bisons, falling 4-3 on the road Tuesday.

With the loss, they trail the Bisons 2-1 in the best-of-five series.

Okotoks led 3-0 after 20 minutes on Tuesday before the Cubs scored twice in the second period to bring themselves within one.

Callen Prosofksy scored his second of the playoffs and Mason Osinski tallied his fourth of the postseason in the middle frame.

They tied the game up 56 seconds into the third period on Caleb Garrecht’s fourth of the playoffs.

But it was the Bisons who scored just 49 seocnds later, holding on for the 4-3 win and the series lead.

Tyler Wakelam, who has started all seven of the Cubs’ playoff games, made 51 saves.

The South finals turn back to Medicine Hat and the Kinplex tonight as the Cubs look to shake history and force Game 5.

Medicine Hat has lost in the third round of the HJHL playoffs in each of the last three playoffs, twice to the Bisons.

Game 4 tonight gets underway at 8:30 p.m. The Cubs won both of their home games in the second-round against the Strathmore Wheatland Kings.

Their only loss at the Kinplex came in Game 2 on Sunday, a 7-1 loss to Okotoks.

They took Game 1 of the series in overtime, winning 5-4 on March 7.

If needed, Game 5 of the series would turn to Okotoks on Saturday.
