The Medicine Hat High Hawks won South Zone Gold last week in Curling.
The Hawks boys team won the South Zone championships, held on Feb. 4-5 in Lethbridge. The Hawks team, featuring Coach Cyton Corsie, skip Ryker Miller, third Colby Sherwick, second Caysh Corsie, alternate Frederik Rasmus Bock, lead Trace Welbourne and principal Dean Brown, will head to provincials in Brooks from Feb. 27 to March 1.
A total of 13 Medicine Hat Curling Club members competed at Zones.
The Eagle Butte Talons sent two mixed doubles teams to compete in their first mixed doubles competition. Teagin Kutanzi and Beau Cavan had a 1-3 record. Taryn Brost and Ethan Bowey had a 2-2 record, with both losses coming against the eventual gold and silver medalists.
The Talons mixed team, lead Alyna Vossler, second Odin Jordett, third Heather Vossler and skip Parker Bellamy finished first in their pool with a 2-2 record before a tough second day, ultimately falling in the bronze medal match.
