SAHA roundup: SAHA’s U18 women’s team rides 6-game win streak

The South Alberta Hockey Academy’s women’s team continued a stretch of success this weekend.

SAHA beat the Edge school 3-1 on Friday before beating the U18AAA Calgary Fire in an exhibition contest Saturday, both games at the Big Marble Go Centre.

Kamryn Reiber, Riley Bourque and Keyana Bert each scored in Friday’s win, Hannah Palumbo made 27 saves.

On Saturday, capping off Alberta Female Hockey Day, SAHA topped the Calgary Fire on the back of a 30-save shutout from Phoenix Buckler. Reiber, Bert and Bourque each scored in the win.

SAHA’s women’s team (15-6-2) are off until Feb. 11 when the host Pilot Mound Hockey Academy at Big Marble Go.

U18

SAHA’s U18 men’s team lost the lone game of the weekend, falling 5-0 to Edge on Friday.

Kannen Kirkwood made 31 saves in the loss.

The U18 men’s team (15-9-4) is off for a week before hosting the Calgary International Hockey Academy for a pair of games on Feb. 14 and 15.

U17

SAHA’s U17 men’s team hosted the Northern Alberta Xtreme for two games over the weekend.

They beat NAX 5-3 on Saturday before falling 3-2 on Sunday. Ryker Klassen scored twice in Friday’s win. Kade Jensen had a goal and an assist and both Matthew Cameron-Skidmore and Karter Kurpjuweit each scored, Hunter Zawislak made 29 saves.

In Sunday’s loss, Kutcher Aquila scored both of SAHA’s goals, Zawislak made 20 saves.

SAHA’s U17 men’s team (15-10-3) is on the road for three games this weekend.
