SAHA U18 women’s team wins first game back from holidays

The South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 Women’s team started the second half like they ended the first stretch.

SAHA beat the Edge school 3-1 on Saturday. They topped Edge 2-1 on Dec. 19 before the holidays.

In Saturday’s win, Marley Howes, Sara Stefanic and Ava Gingell each scored and Emma Skolney made 30 saves.

SAHA’s women’s team (14-6-2) host Edge on Jan. 31 at the Big Marble Go Centre.

U18

SAHA’s U18 men’s team were limited to one game over the weekend due to weather.

They were supposed to host the Prairie Hockey Academy on Saturday, but that game was postponed due to road conditions.

The postponed game didn’t hold them back as SAHA beat Notre Dame 9-0 on Sunday. Mattias Radke made 19 saves for his first shutout. Cash Olson and Brayden Ryan-MacKay each had two goals and two assists, Tyden Lafournaise and Owen Brees each had a goal and two assists, and all three of Riley Steen, William Scott and Ty Hynes each scored.

SAHA’s U18 men’s team (12-8-4) are on the road for one games this weekend.

U17

SAHA’s U17 men’s team took care of business in their lone game, beating the Indigenous Sports Academy 5-3 on Friday.

Five different skaters scored for SAHA, with Madden Wright, Kutcher Aquila, Aidan Poulin, Ryker Klassen and Henry Duesing each scoring. They split duties in net, Hunter Zawislak made 14 saves and Griffin Stenger made 12 stops.

SAHA’s U17 men’s team (11-10-1) are on the road for a pair of games this weekend, taking on the Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg on Friday and the Calgary International Hockey Academy on Sunday.
