Minor Hockey roundup: U17AAA SEAC Tigers pickup three points over weekend

The Medicine Hat U17AAA SEAC Tigers had a three-point weekend in the standings.

The South East Athletic Club Tigers picked up a point in a 3-3 draw Saturday with the SPKAC Squires before topping the MLAC Leafs 6-4 on Sunday at home.

In Saturday’s tie, Ryker Watson scored twice and Treyden Kleinknecht scored a solo marker. Kayden Van Ham made 32 saves in 65 minutes of action.

Nolan Peppler, Watson and Kleinknecht each recorded a goal and an assist in the win Sunday. Kade Dickie had a goal and an assist and Dane Friedt and Nixon Davis each had solo tallies. Carson Jerome made 30 saves.

The U17AAA SEAC Tigers (5-9-0-2-4) are on the road next weekend for a single game on Jan. 12.

U18

The Medicine Hat U18AA Hounds split their weekend of action.

They lost 6-3 Saturday to the East Kootenay Avalanche, rebounding with a 5-0 win over the Taber Golden Suns on Sunday.

In Saturday’s loss, Parker Kienzle had a goal and an assist, and Grady Ford and Colby Motz had a goal each. Kayne Wright made 38 saves.

Hudson Corbett made 17 saves for the shutout win Sunday over the Golden Suns. Randen Collier had a hat trick, adding an assist for good measure. Motz scored twice and Kienzle had three assists.

The U18AA Hounds (10-8-0-0-3) are on the road for a pair of games this weekend on Friday and Sunday.

U16

The U16AA Hounds had just one game over the weekend, falling 7-0 to the CNHA Northstars on Sunday.

Treyton Wilson made 46 saves for the Hounds (0-21), they have two road games this weekend.

U15

The U15AAA SEAC Tigers had three games over the weekend.

They kicked things off with a win Thursday, bearing the Calgary Royals 4-3 on Thursday. They lost 3-2 Saturday to the Airdrie Xtreme, also falling 5-3 to the Xtreme on Sunday.

In Thursday’s win, Carter Gilchrist had three goals, Nelson Sonna Soufo scored the game winner halfway through the third period. Both Macen Ibach and Lucas Fisher had two assists, Paxton Smigelski made 33 saves.

Fisher and Sonna Soufo each scored in Saturday’s loss, Jake Druar made 39 saves.

The scoring duo of Fisher and Sonna Soufo led the offence on Sunday, with Fisher tallying a pair of goals and Sonna Soufo recording a solo marker. Smigelski made 22 saves.

The U15AAA SEAC Tigers (8-11-0-1-0) have a pair of home games this weekend, hosting the Maple Leaf MLAC on Friday and the Calgary Northstars on Saturday, both games at the Hockey Hounds arena.

The U15AA SEAC Tigers had just one game over the weekend, a 2-0 loss Friday to the Wheatland Warriors.

Hunter Munro made 48 saves for the Tigers (9-9-0-0-4) are on the road Saturday before hosting the Lacombe Central Alberta Selects on Sunday.

U13

The U13AA Hounds had a pair of weekend wins, beating the Lethbridge Hurricanes 7-2 on Sunday and topping the Golden Suns 7-4 on Sunday.

In Saturday’s win, both Beckam Sprunger and Weston Haslbeck had two goals with three assists, Teddy maser added a pair of goals with an assist. Raylan Johnson also scored, Blade Schreiner made 39 saves.

Johnson tallied a hat trick in the win Sunday, with Haslbeck adding two goals with an assist and Hudson Gilchrist notching a goal and an assist. Bentley Thares had a goal and Dawson reseller made 26 saves.

The U13AA Hounds (19-2) sit second in the league and are on the road Saturday before hosting the Wheatland Braves on Sunday at the Kinplex.
