sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Medicine Hat boxer Jacob Walne was on the down side of a questionable fight before the holidays. The Medicine Hat Boxing Club fighter boxed in Stoney Plain last weekend, fighting against Tony Costanza of the Humble Boxing Club. It was a match Boxing Club coach Kerry Fahlman says was a sure win, ultimately deemed a split decision loss. Fahlman says the awards committee at the events told him they already had Walne picked as best boxer of the show. “Normally we wouldn’t worry about a close loss, split decision but this was so blatant it’s worth mentioning,” Fahlman said. “It’s disappointing when an athlete trains so hard and is not rewarded for his effort. Not taking anything away from Tony, he trains hard, is a good fighter, also a good kid.” 6
