Medicine Hat Tigers forward Hunter St. Martin battles for the puck with Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Brayden Yager during WHL action Friday night at VisitLethbridge.com Arena. Lethbridge won 4-3.
The Medicine Hat Tigers scored first Friday night but it was the Lethbridge Hurricanes who finished on top.
The Hurricanes scored four straight goals to beat the Highway 3 rival 4-3. It’s the second time Lethbridge has topped the Tigers, winning 6-5 on Nov. 6.
Oasiz Wiesblatt scored 3:09 into the contest, scoring top shelf off a pass from Hunter St. Martin below the goal line. Veeti Väisänen had the second assist on Wiesblatt’s 13th.
The Tigers made it a 2-0 lead with 21 seconds left in the opening frame.
St. Martin had the puck beside the Lethbridge net on a power play and looked to make a cross crease pass, finding the back of the net instead.
Gavin McKenna and Ryder Ritchie had the assists on St. Martin’s 20th of the season. The assist extends McKenna’s point streak to 13 games.
Lethbridge’s goal streak was kicked off 3:23 into the second period.
Leo Braillard scored on a rush to unleash the teddy bears at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
Noah Chadwick scored on a power play and Logan Warmold tickled twine on a two-on-one to lead 3-2 after 40 minutes. Braillard scored 4:12 into the third.
Mat Ward scored his sixth of the season with three seconds left to make it the 4-3 final. Wiesblatt had the lone assist.
Jordan Switzer made 28 saves in the loss.
The Tigers (16-12-1) host the Edmonton Oil Kings on Saturday at Co-op Place for the Medicine Hat News Teddy Bear Toss.
