AMAC Swim Club races at provincial series meet over weekend

The Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club raced in Calgary this weekend.

The local swim club sent 12 qualified swimmers to compete against 12 other teams at the Provincial Series: Cascade Speed Meet hosted at the MNP Community and Sport Centre. AMAC had three other qualified swimmers who were unavailable to attend.

The local results are:

Abigail Begin (16): had two new best times, finishing second in 100m IM Swim-Off, 11th in 100m IM prelim, 12th in 50m Back final and 50m Fly prelim, 13th in 50m Back final and 50m Back prelim, 22nd in 100m Back final, 24th in 100m Back prelim, 35th in 100m Free prelim and 40th in 50m Free prelim.

Nayla Berg (12): Raced to three new best times, finishing second in 100m Breast final, third in 200m Breast prelim and final, fourth in 50m Breast final, fifth in 50m Breast prelim, seventh in 100m Breast prelim, ninth in 100m IM prelim, 11th in 200m IM prelim, 13th in 100m Free final and 14th in 100m Free prelim.

Rowynn Biffart (16): Had new best times and broke six club records, finishing first in four races, 50m Breast final, 50m Free final, 100m Fly final, 100m IM prelim and final. She also finished second in 50m Fly final, 100m Free final and 100m Fly prelim, third in 50m Fly prelim, 50m Breast prelim and 100m Free prelim and sixth in 50m Free prelim.

Morgan Hobson (16): Had two new best times, finishing first in 100m IM Swim-Off, 10th in 100m IM, 11th in 50m Breast prelim and final, 13th in 100m Breast final, 16th in 50m Breast prelim, 21st in 50m Fly final, 25th in 50m Fly prelim and 42nd in 50m Free prelim.

Breagh Kohlman (12): Finished sixth in 200m Breast prelim, seventh in 200m Breast final, eighth in 100m IM prelim and final, ninth in 100m Breast prelim and 10th in 200m IM prelim.

Olivia Liebenberg (12): Finished 13th in 100m Free prelim, 16th in 100m Free final and 20th in 50m Free prelim.

Johnathan Marshall (17): Finished third in 100m IM final, fourth in 100m IM prelim and 18th in 50m Fly prelim.

Caen McWilliams (15): Achieved seven new times, finishing second in 50m Back final, third in 200m Back final, fourth in in 200m Back prelim, fifth in 100m Back final, sixth in 50m Back prelim, eighth in 100m Back prelim, ninth in 50m Fly prelim, 50m Free final and 100m Free final, 12th in 100m Free prelim and 17th in 50m Free prelim.

Lily McWilliams (13): Had three new best times, finishing fourth in 800m Free timed final, 11th in 50m Free final, 14th in 200m Free final, 15th in 200m Free prelim and 400m Free timed final, 16th in 50m Free prelim, 21st in 200m Back prelim and 25th in 100m Free prelim.

Aliya Seeley (14): Had one new best time, finishing eighth in 400m Free timed final, 19th in 100m IM prelim and 20th in 400m IM timed final.

Owen Sommerfedlt (15): had four new best times, finishing fifth in 50m Back prelim, seventh in 50m Back final, 10th in 50m Free final, 12th in 100m Fly prelim, 14th in 50m Fly prelim, 15th in 50m Free prelim and 23rd in 100m Back prelim.

Leo Yonkman (15): Had one new best time, finishing 15th in 50m Breast prelim and 22nd in 50m Free prelim.

Next up for AMAC is the third annual Comet Cup Invitational on Nov. 15-17 at Cochrane.
