Ringette roundup: U10 Step 3 Mustangs finish strong at Airdrie tournament

The U10 Step 3 Medicine Hat Mustangs made good at their first ringette tournament of the season.

The S3 Mustangs faced off at the Ring of Fire tournament in Airdrie this weekend. They opened the weekend with a 6-2 loss Friday to Calgary Northwest-2.

Everley Cross was in net for the Mustangs, with Avery Fuller and Charlie Lowe each notching a goal and an assist. Kimber Moch also had a helper.

In their second game, the Mustangs tied 7-7 with Calgary Northwest-3. Sloan Loehndorf scored a hat trick, adding an assist. Lowe and Fuller each scored a pair with an assist, Zoe Aarden was between the pipes, keeping the game tied. Addy McKinley and Isabelle Perrault also had an assist.

The S3 Mustangs played the host Airdrie on Saturday, falling 10-5. Moch opened the scoring in the tournament, with an assist from Loehndorf. The other Mustangs goals came from Perrault, Fuller, Cross and Lowe with McKinley marking an assist. Lexxon Martinez was in net.

The Mustangs faced Calgary South in their final game, winning 9-8 in overtime.

They put up the first goal, with Loehndorf finding the back of the net. Martinez found a short-handed goal to add to the score. The pair added another solo tally each, with Lowe scoring as the Mustangs trailed 6-5 at the half.

Aarden and Cross each scored to make it an 8-7 deficit and with just 2.1 seconds left in the game, Aarden sniped the tying goal to force overtime. Everley Cross took the victory with a goal two minutes into overtime. Fallyn Weeks was in net for the victory.

The U10 Step 3 Mustangs are back on home ice Saturday against Foothills.

The U10 Step 2 Mustangs had a three-pack of games on the road this weekend.

They opened the weekend with a 12-6 win over Airdrie on Saturday.

Riley Trotter was in net for the first half, Hallie Vossler worked between the pipes in the second half. Laila Loehndorf led the offence with four goals, Nora Dunn added a hat trick, Rozlyn Moch had a pair of markers and both Hailee Kopeck and Gabby O’Reilly found twine.

On Sunday the Step 2 Mustangs beat Airdrie again, winning 14-11. Vossler and Trotter swapped goaltending duties. O’Reilly had five goals in the win, with Rozlyn Moch recording a hat trick. Harper Fullen and Dunn added a pair and Ayva Beebe and Loehndorf each had a goal.

They rounded the weekend off with a 11-4 loss to Airdrie. Loehndorf had three goals and O’Reilly found twine. Trotter worked the first half in net, Vossler finished the game between the pipes in the second half.

The U10 Step 2 Mustangs are off until Dec. 1 when they head to Airdrie for a rematch.

The U10 Step 1 Mustangs played Cochrane at the Moose Rec Centre on Saturday.

In the first game, Brielle St. Laurent scored four times.

St. Laurent scored twice more in the second game, with both Thea Pancoast and Addison Clegg scoring in the game as well.

U12

The U12 Mustangs had three games at the Ring of Fire tournament in Airdrie.

Zayda Dawson was in goal for the first game against Red Deer, guarding the net in a 12-11 loss. Evangeline Robins had four goals, Brinley Cross and Annabelle O’Reilly both scored twice. Annalise Robins, Arika McDowall and Katie Vis each had a solo tally.

Grace Stirling was in goal for a 10-5 loss against Leduc. Annalise Robins had a pair of goals, Evangeline Robins, Rhya Weinberger and Cross each scored as well.

Dawson played goal in the last game, a 13-7 loss to Fort Saskatchewan. Cross had a hat trick, Jorja Sadler tallied a pair and both Evangeline Robins and Katie-Lee Sehn tickled twine.

The U12B Mustangs are in action on Saturday for a pair of Chinook League games in Calgary.

U19

The U19 Mustangs were in action hosted the Strathmore Ice on Sunday.

The Mustangs offence fired on all cylinders, outscoring Strathmore 35-4, picking up both wins to move into first place in the Chinook League standings.

Medicine Hat won 13-2 in the first contest. Kasey Martin and Hannah Thompson each had two goals and two assists, Erika Want had a goal with three helpers.

Sophie Kerr and Karly Stennick both tallied a pair of goals with an assist. Ryleigh Jackiw and Pacie Harper had a goal and an assist and both Rileigh Tabor and Isabella Heinrichs had a solo tally.

Kyree Stern-Rebmann was in net for the win, making 19 saves.

They beat Strathmore 22-2 in the second game. Grace Amman had three goals with four assists. Hannah Thompson had four goals with two assist and Pacie Harper worked a goal with five assists for six-point efforts.

Ava Allchurch and Kasey Martin each had three goals with two assists and Sophie Kerr had two goals with three helpers.

Ryleigh Jackiw put together a goal with three assists, and Isabella Heinrichs and Erika Want each tallied a goal with two assists. All three of Rileigh Tabor, Mackenzie Tindall and Karly Stennick found the back of the net.

Stern-Rebmann was in net for the win.

The next action for the Mustangs is Nov. 24 in Calgary against Calgary North West-3.
