The Medicine Hat Tigers padded the stat sheet on Friday in Regina, reaching double digits in a 10-5 blowout of the Pats. They came into the contest off a 4-3 shootout win Wednesday at Calgary over the Hitmen. Friday’s win marks a third in a row for the Tigers. Gavin McKenna, already leading the WHL in scoring, tallied six points with a pair of goals, Hunter St. Martin scored four goals and added an assist, while captain Oasiz Wiesblatt picked up his 200th career WHL point during a four-assist night. Bryce Pickford doubled his season goal total with a hat trick, adding an assist for a four-point game. He also fought for the illustrious Gordie Howe hatty. Andrew Basha scored and added two assists. Defenceman Jonas Woo assisted on four goals. The Tigers chased Regina starter Ewan Huet halfway through the second period, scoring six goals on 28 shots. Kelton Pyne took over in net, allowing four goals on 24 shots. Medicine Hat outshot the Pats 52-26 and won the face off battle, 35-31. The Tigers went three-for-seven on the power play, Regina was held scoreless on their three power plays. Between the pipes, Jordan Switzer made 21 saves in his fourth start of the season, picking up his third win. He’s won three-straight games in net. The Tigers (9-6) jump to first in the Central division with 18 points, sitting one spot ahead of the Lethbridge Hurricanes who have only played 13 games. 9
