Valk tied for 3rd through first day of CDN golf college championship

Michael Valk is in a high spot after the first day of Canadian college golf championships.

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers golfer was tied for third place at the Canadian Colleges golf championship hosted at Humber College in Etobicoke, Ont.

Valk shot an opening round 73, two strokes behind a pair of golfers tied for top spot.

Medicine Hat sent six other golfers to the championships, four members of the men’s team and two women’s golfers.

Keelan Burzminski is the next highest Rattler, tied for 38th after day one.

The tournament continues Wednesday and wraps Friday.
