The Medicine Hat Firefit team returned from nationals in golden fashion.
The local Firefit team competed at the National Firefit championships in Kamloops from Sept. 25-29.
Representing Medicine Hat, team members Jason Labash, Michael Arnold, Josh Hauck and Steve Seymour faced off against over 190 competitors from seven countries, showcasing their skills and teamwork in a series of challenging events, known as the “toughest two minutes in sports”.
The team led the way in over 40 categories, winning gold in the team division, the relay division and the Tech2 event, with Labash and Semour leading the way. They also secured a bronze medal in the over 40 Tech2 event with teammates Hauck and Arnold. Additionally, Seymour earning a bronze medal in the individual division for competitors over 45.
Looking ahead, the Medicine Hat Firefit Team is gearing up for the World Firefighter Combat Challenge later this month in Nashville, Ten. They look forward to representing the community on the international stage and acknowledge their success would not be possible without the support of their sponsors.
