Rhett Parsons signs AHL deal with Toronto Marlies

Medicine Hat Tigers graduate defenceman Rhett Parsons is off to pro hockey.

The 21-year-old Cremona, Alta. product has signed a two-year, AHL contract with the Toronto Marlies, the team announced Thursday.

Parsons attended the Toronto Maple Leafs development camp over the summer, before receiving an invite to the prospect showcase in the fall. He received an invite to main camp and has since joined the Marlies for their training camp.

The 6-foot-3 defenceman played four seasons in Medicine Hat, putting up 17 goals and 52 points in 219 games with 334 penalty minutes. He also played in eight playoff games for the Tigers, recording a goal and two points.

Parsons played all 68 games in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, also serving as a member of the leadership group.
