Flames sign Tigers’ forward Andrew Basha to entry-level contract

The Calgary Flames have signed Medicine Hat Tigers forward Andrew Basha to an entry-level contract.

The NHL club announced the signing on Sunday, agreeing to the standard three-year contract for a recently drafted player. The Flames selected Basha 41st overall in June’s NHL entry Draft.

The 18-year-old Calgary product skated in two preseason games with the Flames, recording an assist. He was returned to the Tigers ahead of their weekend series against the Red Deer Rebels. He had an assist in the Tigers’ 4-2 loss Friday at Red Deer and recorded a power play goal in the 4-3 loss Saturday at Co-op Place.

He suited up in 63 games last season for the Tigers, scoring 30 goals and 85 points, adding three goals and five points in five playoff games.

Basha, a 105th overall pick in the 2020 WHL draft, is the first Tigers’ player to sign an entry level contract since goaltender Garin Bjorklund in 2022 with the Washington Capitals.
