The Cubs swept a two-game set against the Coaldale Copperheads, winning 8-5 Saturday on the road and capping the weekend with a 7-5 win Sunday at the Kinplex. In Saturday’s win, Medicine Hat scored four goals in both the second and third periods for the 8-5 victory. They were outshot 34-26. On Sunday, a five-goal third period propelled the Cubs to victory. They outshot the Copperheads 29-25 in the win. No individual statistics were recorded from the games. The Cubs get their regular season underway Sept. 21 when they head to Okotoks to face the back-to-back-to-back league champion Okotoks Bisons. They’ll head to Coaldale the next day against the Copperheads. The Cubs’ home opener is Sept. 27, a 7:30 p.m. contest at the Kinplex against the High River Flyers. 9
