The new voice of the Medicine Hat Tigers was unveiled Wednesday.

Broadcaster Will Bryant was announced as the third-ever voice of the Tigers during the WILD 94.5 morning show.

Bryant comes from Vancouver Island, where he’s served as the play-by-play voice of the VIJHL Peninsula Panthers for the last eight seasons.

“I’m super, super stoked to be joining the community out there in Medicine Hat and getting busy with things with the Tigers,” Bryant said on the radio.

He’s expected to be in the city over the weekend, taking in the Tigers’ final preseason game, Sunday at Co-op Place against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. His first game will be the season/home opener on Sept. 21, when the Edmonton Oil Kings come to town.

Bryant said he’s looking forward to seeing the team in person.

“One thing that stands out is not only the top end talent that you have on the team, which is great to have on any team, but that’s nothing without the depth that this team has behind it,” Bryant said. “Not just up front, they have it on the back end, they have it between the pipes. I feel like I couldn’t really ask to be coming into a better, better situation here.

“There’s fantastic management, fantastic coaching, you look top to bottom, six NHL drafted guys, this is a team that is ready to win now and is ready to win probably for a couple years as well, too. So I’m jazzed up beyond belief here.”

He is taking over the role after the Tigers did not renew the contract of Gino De Paoli, who is the new voice of the Swift Current Broncos. Bryant is an employee of Pattison Media.

During home games he’ll work alongside Lance Doll who is entering his fourth season as colour commentator.
