Five Tigers named to Hockey Canada summer camps

The Medicine Hat Tigers have a five-pack of players heading to Hockey Canada camps this summer.

Hockey Canada announced the invited rosters to their program of excellence camps, the national junior team summer showcase, national men’s summer U18 team selection camp and the national U17 development camp.

Forwards Gavin McKenna and Kadon McCann were invited to the U18 selection camp. They will be joining 39 other players in Calgary for the selection camp, running July 27-29. This camp is the first efforts towards selecting Canada’s roster for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup held Aug. 5-11 in Edmonton.

Forward Cayden Lindstrom was one of the 42 players invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Summer Showcase July 28 to August 3 in Windsor, Ont. and Plymouth, Mich. This camp is in preparation for the 2025 World Juniors held in Ottawa. McKenna is expected to also be in consideration for the World Junior team according to The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler.

Prospect forwards Liam Ruck and Markus Ruck will take part in the U17 development camp in Oakville, Ont. on July 18-24. They join 78 players at the camp, including 15 teammates from the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games. The U17 Hockey Challenge is Nov. 1-9 in Sarnia, Ont.

Tigers prospect forward Shaeffer Gordon-Carroll was named to the United States’ U17 team for the Five Nations tournament to be held Aug. 14-18 in Slovakia.
