The Mavs won three of fours games this weekend in their five-game road trip that wrapped up Monday. The Mavs kicked things off with a pair of wins over the Saskatoon Berries, with an 8-2 win Thursday and a 12-4 victory on Friday. They travelled to Regina for a split against the Red Sox, getting shut-out 4-0 on Saturday before a bounce back, 10-4 win Sunday. The Mavs were limited on Saturday by Red Sox’ starter Daniel Crabtree who recorded his second complete game of the season. Medicine Hat was held to five hits and a walk by the second-year WCBL pitcher. Sunday’s effort was a complete 180, with the Mavs outhitting the Red Sox 13-7 for the 10-4 win. A trio of Mavs’ led the offence, with Landon Mokris knocking his first home run of the season to finish a two-hit, two-run and two-RBI day. Tyler Vanneste had two hits with two RBIs and a run scored and Brody Gardner tallied two hits, with two RBIs and two runs scored. The Mavs finished the road trip at Weyburn on Monday, taking on the Beavers. Medicine Hat entered the contest with a 19-14 record, sitting in third place in the East division, half a game behind the second place Moose Jaw Miller Express (20-14). The Red Sox remain on top of the division with a 23-11 record. The Mavs return to Athletic Park tonight, hosting the Swift Current 57’s. An off-day Wednesday sets up a four-game home stand for the Mavs as they host the Edmonton Prospects on Thursday before the Miller Express come to Athletic Park for three straight games.
