The Medicine Hat Lawn Bowling Club hosted its annual Canada Day tournament on Monday.
Four teams of triples competed for the Burniston Family Trophy. They held a round robin tournament with a playoff round planned but were limited to just a round robin due to weather.
Two teams finished the tournament at 2-1 with the other two finishing at 1-2.
Jean Bresee’s team, which also featured Barb Moll and Doug Sanregret, were awarded the Burniston trophy having beaten the second place team in the round robin to win the tie breaker. The second place team was the Linda Bower team with Braydon Gordon, Wes Bresee and Pat Ferrier.
Janette Starling’s team, consisting of Sam Ferrier and Curt Moll, took the bronze medal. Starling’s team beat the Yvonne Sanregret team in the round robin to break the tie. Sanregret’s team included Cave Starling and Mike Gilchrist.
The club’s next tournament is the Medicine Hat Memorial Tournament on July 13-14 where triples teams from Calgary and Edmonton lawn bowling clubs travel down to play in this Bowls Alberta sponsored tournament.
Play begins on Saturday with playoffs concluding early Sunday afternoon.
