The Medicine Hat Mavericks have lived by a six run inning and fallen with a six-run inning.
The Mavs allowed a half a dozen runs in the second inning Saturday, putting them behind from the get-go in a 10-2 loss to the Lethbridge Bulls on Saturday.
Medicine Hat came off an 8-7 win Friday at Athletic Park over the Swift Current in which they scored six runs in the first frame.
The Bulls scored six runs on four hits in the second frame off starter Aidan Lenzen. His game ended with 1.2 innings pitched, with two walks.
Cesar Rodriguez took over and worked 4.1 innings in relief, allowing just two runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Medicine Hat got on the board with an RBI double from second baseman Marshall Burke in the third inning.
The Bulls scored on Rodriguez in the third and fourth frame.
Lane McEachern took over in the seventh inning, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks.
Centre fielder Brady Bean knocked in the Mavs’ second run of the game with sacrifice fly in the top of the 8th inning.
Leo Woods made his Mavs’ debut taking the mound in the eighth. He allowed a lone hit, striking out the next two batters before inducing a groundout.
Medicine Hat left seven runners on base to the Bulls eight. Lethbridge outhit the Mavs 12-5.
The Mavs (13-9) host the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Sunday at Athletic Park.
Before that game at 2:05 p.m., the Medicine Hat Fire Service and Medicine Hat Police Service will face off in the annual charity softball game. That contest gets underway at Noon.
