Monarchs split weekend of American Legion action

The Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs picked up two wins over the weekend.

They opened the four-game stretch with an 18-6 win Friday over the Calgary Premier Blues.

Ryler Straarup hit two home runs as part of three hits, five RBIs and three runs scored. Kayne Olinski added two hits with two runs scored and an RBI.

Kobe Eskestrand started the game, working 2.2 innings. Parker Hunt pitched 1.1 innings and Olisnki finished the game with a strikeout in his lone inning of work.

The Monarchs had two games Saturday, falling 10-9 to Red Deer and 11-10 to the ATHX Academy.

Cade Harrison had two hits with two RBIs and a run scored in the loss to Red Deer. Jeff Bullock added three hits with an RBI and a run scored.

Ryder Tweten started the game, recording two strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work. Hunt recorded a strikeout in his pair of outs and Asha Frey finished the game with two punch outs in his two innings on the mound.

Landon MacPherson had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored in the loss to ATHX. Harrison added two hits, two RBIs and a run scored, and Hunt knocked in three RBIs with a hit and a run scored.

Jeff Bullock started the contest with a strikeout and Trevin Ressler took over to work 2.2 frames with four punch-outs. Straarup pitched two innings with two Ks, Harrison worked four strikeouts in 1.2 innings and Cade Moch finished the game on the mound.

The Monarchs finished the weekend with a 10-0 win Sunday over the Swift Current 57’s.

Ressler had four RBIs and one hit, Bullock notched two RBIs with three hits and three runs scored.

Olisnki worked the full game on the mound, notching three punch-outs.

Knights

The Medicine Hat Knights picked up a win in five contests.

They opened the weekend with a 7-4 victory Friday over the Great Falls Chargers.

Ayden Anderson had two RBIs with a run scored and Cole Carlson notched two hits with two runs scored.

Ward Davies started the game, recording four strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched. Ethan worked the final out of the game, notching a strikeout.

They lost the second game Friday, falling 8-3 to the Sheridan Jets.

Chenard had two hits with an RBI and a run scored.

James Cole started the contest, working 1.1 innings. Ty Meyer pitched 3.2 innings with two strikeouts and Chenard worked the final inning.

The Knights lost the first game Saturday, falling 9-2 to the Billings Cardinals.

Nixon Kunkel had an RBI with two hits and a run scored. Cole Carlson started the game, with two strikeouts in two innings on the mound. Jayden Mook worked the final five innings with two Ks.

The Knights lost 9-2 to the Bozeman Bucks. Meyer notched two hits with a run scored.

Kunkel worked two innings with a punch-out, and Anderson finished the game with a strikeout in four innings pitched.

The Knights wrapped up the weekend with a 12-3 loss Sunday to the Sheridan Jets.

Chenard had two hits and Landon Cunningham had two strikeouts in two innings pitched. Cole had a strikeout in his inning of work and Ethan Grad worked the last inning of the game.

Majestics

The U15 Majestics had two games over the weekend, splitting the stretch.

They kicked things off with an 11-5 loss Saturday to the Red Deer Braves.

Aaron Recio had two RBIs with a hit and a run scored, and Dustin MacPherson notched a hit, a run scored and an RBI.

Dylan Nelson had five strikeouts in three innings pitched and Ethan Bowey recorded four strikeouts in five innings of work.

They finished the weekend with a 12-2 win over the Sylvan Lake Mariners.

Nelson had two hits with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Recio scored three times with two hits and an RBI. Kade Velichko added two runs scored on two hits.

Recio worked the whole game on the mound, with 10 strikeouts in six innings pitched.
