jtubb@medicinehatnews.com@ReporterTubb The Canadian Hockey League’s deadline for WHL teams to submit an intent to bid on the 2026 Memorial Cup passed Friday. The Kelowna Rockets were the lone team to publicly announce their intent, doing so in a press conference Thursday. Any other WHL teams interested in making a bid to host the 2026 Memorial Cup were required to submit an intent to bid by 3 p.m. MST Friday. No other teams made a public announcement with their intent as of press time. The CHL will be releasing information next week regarding all teams who have submitted an intent to bid. The News contacted the Medicine Hat Tigers for comment on whether the club submitted an intent to bid on the 2026 tournament, but did not hear back. The winning bid is to tentatively be announced by the CHL in late November. 8
