Eagle Butte Talons recognize top athletes for 2023-24 season

sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Eagle Butte Talons celebrated their high school athletes in their annual athletic banquet Thursday. The Talons recognized some of their top athletes with four awards, most improved talon, spirit of youth award, Dave Rozdeba AAA award and the male and female athlete of the year. Ryann Plaksey was named the most improved Talon for her efforts in volleyball. Plaksey started on the JV volleyball team and worked her way into a key piece of the senior team. Three Talons were recognized with the Spirit of Youth Award, given to athletes to are committed to their sport while also going above and beyond by giving back to their community in a significant way. Aden Pflughaupt, Aiden Gibb and Kaylee Feeney won the award. The Dave Rozdeba AAA Award, won by Elizabeth Bowey, Julianne Curran and Josh Evaschesen, recognizes students who excel in academics, athletes and share a positive attitude. Award recipients must maintain an ousting overall average of 85 per cent or higher in Rutherford-based subjects, must be superior team members on at least two school teams and take a leadership role with one of those teams. The Talons female and male athletes of the year were Elizabeth Bowey and Braxton Spencer. 8-7
