The Medicine Hat Tigers picked up a win in their penultimate regular season game. The Tigers beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-2 Friday night at the Enmax Centre on an overtime goal from Oasiz Wiesblatt. His goal came with 49 seconds left in overtime and was his 25th of the season, 10th game winning goal. Medicine Hat opened the scoring in the first period. Bogdans Hodass was left all alone in front of Harrison Meneghin and was able to finally jam home a rebound after multiple attempts. His seventh of the season game 13:02 int the game and had assists from Matt Paranych and Gavin McKenna. The Hurricanes tied it up early in the second. Logan Warmold scored on a breakaway attempt 21 seconds into the period to make it a 1-1 game. Noah Chadwick and Logan McCutcheon had the helpers on his 19th. Medicine Hat regained the lead at the 6:42 mark. McKenna picked up a misplayed puck off the stick of Meneghin and scored from the left side of the net for his 32nd on the season. The Tigers outshot the Hurricanes 23-10 in the second frame and led the game in shots 37-26 after 40 minutes. The Tigers looked to hold the lead in the third but with an extra attacker, the Hurricanes tied it up late. Brayden Edwards came off the bench and scored with 2:01 left in the game to make it 2-2. Chadwick and McCutcheon again had the assists as Edwards’ 31st sent the game to overtime. After a back and forth extra frame, the contest appeared destined for a shootout before Wiesblatt called game with 49 seconds left in the overtime. Ethan McCallum made 33 saves in net for the Tigers. Across the ice from him, Meneghin stopped 53 Medicine Hat shots. The Tigers (37-23-5-2) host the Hurricanes at Co-op Place on Saturday for the final game of the regular season. 11
